St Andrew Square is one of the most prestigious locations in Edinburgh New Town. Located at the East End of George Street, the hub of Edinburgh's financial world, it is characterised by its pubs, restaurants, and luxury shops, including Harvey Nichols and the designer precinct, Multrees Walk. Start-up media and tech businesses add another dimension to this rapidly changing part of the capital, along with enticing and exotic food and drink joints, including popular favourites, Dishoom, The Ivy and Hawksmoor. After first opening to the public in 2008, the garden at the centre of St Andrew Square has become a relaxation space for workers from nearby shops and offices. It became a Fringe venue in 2014 and hosts seasonal events. The square remains an important hub for the Edinburgh tram, intercity coaches and local buses and is a 6-minute walk to Waverley station, Edinburgh's central railway station.
